The Process
- Do your research
Before stepping inside a dealership, you first need to know which vehicle you’re looking for and what prices are typical for the make and model of the car. This will help you better understand your needs and help your sales representative find a vehicle that is a good fit for you. - Explore Payments
The next thing you wonder is, “How much can I afford?” On our website, you can get a close estimate of payments for any car you’re looking for by viewing your desired vehicle and clicking “Explore Payments”. This button will pull up a tool that will perform a “Soft Credit Pull” in order to provide you with a monthly payment number that takes your credit and potential interest into account. You can even receive a value for any vehicles you may wish to trade. Doing all of this will help you better understand what car you can afford before you even walk in the door!

- Take a test drive
When you take a test drive, thoroughly inspect the vehicle. Check for any dents, cracks, or rust, and check the tires for any wear and tear. At McGavock, all of our used inventory goes through a rigorous multi-point inspection before going out on the lot. Make sure to test and understand the features of the vehicle and that you’re comfortable with it. For example, listen to music through the speakers, turn the A/C and heater on, sit in the back seats, etc. According to Forbes, almost 50% of Americans spend 30 minutes or less in a test drive before purchasing a vehicle. Think of a test drive almost like a first date. You need to spend more time “getting to know” the car before you buy.
